Camera monitoring begins along the Muğla coast
The metropolitan municipality installed 16 cameras with a 13 km range to spot boats dumping bilge or waste. A mooring buoy system for Hisarönü Gulf is also on the agenda.
The AI-assisted system identifies boats by itself; the data is turned into a report and passed to the Coast Guard. Muğla metropolitan mayor Ahmet Aras gave the details at the municipal council’s September meeting.
The municipality collects waste in the bays with 14 boats. Applications for new jetty permits have been made for five areas, including Gökova, Dalaman-Göcek, Hisarönü and Bozburun. A mooring buoy system is planned for Hisarönü Gulf, and the “Derya” app shows free mooring points and seagrass beds.
