What is a transit log, and how do you get one?
The transit log, officially the seyir izin belgesi, is the document on which all of a boat’s entry, exit and cruising formalities in Türkiye are carried out. It also takes the place of the port exit permit.
Who needs a transit log?
Foreign flagged boats arriving from a foreign port, or wintering in Türkiye, cruise with a transit log and state their route on it. Turkish flagged private boats do not need one for trips between Turkish ports; when they leave for abroad and come back, the formalities are again done on this document.
What does it contain?
Every declaration and formality about the boat, customs, crew, passengers, passports, health clearance, the port, goods on board and the voyage. It can also be issued electronically.
Who fills it in?
The owner, the operator, the captain or a ship agent acting for them completes and signs it, correctly and in full. It must be kept on board for as long as it is valid.
What does it cost?
Two items: a charge by boat length and a fixed document fee. In 2026 the document fee is 70 EUR for foreign flagged yachts and 900 TL for Turkish flagged yachts. You can see the charge for your boat length in our calculator.
How is a voyage closed?
When the voyage ends, the harbour master is notified within twelve hours at the latest. The voyage counts as completed once the copy kept on board is handed to the harbour master or the notice is given through the electronic system. For foreign flagged boats wintering in a sea tourism facility such as a marina, the transit log stays valid throughout the wintering period.
