Clearing into Türkiye from the Greek islands

A foreign flagged yacht arriving from the Greek islands must first clear in at a sea port of entry. Opposite Rhodes and Symi lie Marmaris, Bozburun and Datça; opposite Kos lie Bodrum and Turgutreis.

Which port should I head for?

According to the Directorate General of Security’s list, Marmaris, Datça, Bodrum and Turgutreis are permanent sea border gates. Bozburun and Datça Körmen Yacht Harbour are temporary gates, and Bozburun works by season. If you are heading for a temporary gate, ask first whether it is open.

What happens on arrival?

A transit log is issued, and passport control, customs, health and the harbour master carry out the entry on it. Nothing about the boat is entered in your passport. After entry you may cruise freely in Turkish waters, stating your route on the transit log.

What does it cost?

A charge by boat length plus a 70 EUR document fee. For a 12 metre yacht, for example, the 2026 charge is 3,081.60 TL; see our calculator for your own length.

Do we need a visa?

It depends on the nationality of each person on board. Türkiye’s official e-Visa site is evisa.gov.tr; check it before you set off.

And if I pop back to Greece?

Health clearance is not repeated as long as you do not call at a foreign port and remain in Türkiye. If you go to the Greek islands and come back, clearing out and clearing in again happen at a port of entry once more.
